✷ ARTWORK

The Ferryman and the Passenger (La Passeur et sa Passagère) by Paul Désiré Trouillebert c.1885.
Trouillebert was the master of the "hazy morning aesthetic" long before Instagram filters existed. We’ve got a ferryman doing the heavy lifting while his passenger sits there looking effortlessly contemplative. Are they discussing the philosophy of the soul? Or are they just enjoying the fact that the river looks like it’s made of liquid silver and nobody has a cell phone? It’s peak Barbizon school energy, ethereal, misty, and suspiciously calm.

✷ HANDCRAFTED DETAILS

Not mass-produced, and not especially interested in pretending to be. Each one is assembled by hand using archival materials and a plaster relied frame cast from a mold of a rare antique original. There’s something about it that feels settled, like it already knows where it belongs.

• Archival canvas print with satin varnish (museum-quality, fade-resistant).
• Plaster relief frame, hand-poured and finished in a vintage patina. Cast from a rare antique original and unique to this studio.
• Made with Hydrostone plaster, a mineral-based material rather than petroleum-based resin. It’s biodegradable and doesn’t stick around like plastic.
• Two finishes available:
Aged gold with a real metal finish applied in the mold for a warm, heirloom feel. Finished with hand-buffed antique wax for a museum-quality low luster.
Classic black with pigment mixed directly into the plaster for a deep, matte look that won’t chip or flake.
• At 1.8 lbs, it has a satisfying bit of weight to it and feels solid rather than delicate, with pre-installed hanging hardware so it’s easy to hang.

✷ THOUGHTFUL EXTRAS

• A removable Swiss lithograph art card (early 20th-century, collectible designs. Yours will be chosen at random unless you request a specific one!).
