Originally published in 1911 in Kittens and Cats; A Book of Tales by Eulalie Osgood Grover, this bossy little monarch opens the book with a royal summons: all cats must attend her grand palace party. Photographed in costume and full of attitude, she sets the tone for a strange and wonderful parade of feline characters.
This vintage children's book used staged cat photography (likely by Harry Whittier Frees) alongside rhyming stories to teach kids to read. Over a century later, it still reads like a fever dream - but in the best possible way. Ornate, theatrical, and just the right amount of ridiculous. Her Majesty would approve.

Built by hand from start to finish, using archival paper and a plaster relief frame cast from a mold of a rare antique original. It carries a bit of that old-world studio energy, the kind that doesn’t try too hard but still manages to shift the mood of a space just by being there.

• Made with Hydrostone plaster, a mineral-based material rather than petroleum-based resin. It’s biodegradable and doesn’t stick around like plastic.
• Two finishes available:
Aged gold with a real metal finish applied in the mold for a warm, heirloom feel. Finished with hand-buffed antique wax for a museum-quality low luster.
Classic black with pigment mixed directly into the plaster for a deep, matte look that won’t chip or flake.
• At 1.6 lbs, it has a satisfying bit of weight to it and feels solid rather than delicate, with pre-installed hanging hardware so it’s easy to hang.
