This is such a quiet little daydream. A guy just reading in the middle of a forest lane like it’s the most normal thing in the world. Trees arching overhead, path dappled with light, zero fear of emails or joggers. This painting is basically a tribute to unbothered outdoor reading. The trees form a natural tunnel, the light is doing something poetic, and the man is clearly very into whatever he’s reading. It looks peaceful. It also makes you extremely grateful for benches.

This piece is built the long way around. Archival canvas for the artwork, a substantial plaster relief frame cast from a mold made from a rare antique original, and no shortcuts in between. It has that slightly worn-in presence that usually takes years to develop, like it could have been hanging in the corner of a studio long before it ended up on your wall.
• Archival canvas print with satin varnish (museum-quality, fade-resistant).
• Plaster relief frame, hand-poured and finished in a vintage patina. Cast from a rare antique original and unique to this studio.
• Made with Hydrostone plaster, a mineral-based material rather than petroleum-based resin. It’s biodegradable and doesn’t stick around like plastic.
• Two finishes available:
Aged gold with a real metal finish applied in the mold for a warm, heirloom feel. Finished with hand-buffed antique wax for a museum-quality low luster.
Classic black with pigment mixed directly into the plaster for a deep, matte look that won’t chip or flake.
• At 2 lbs, it has a satisfying bit of weight to it and feels solid rather than delicate, with pre-installed hanging hardware so it’s easy to hang.
