Reading Woman on a Couch by Isaac Israels (c.1920). She’s reading, reclining, and not making eye contact. She has officially entered that sacred state known as “book coma,” where time stops and social obligations can wait. Her posture says literature, her energy says “don’t talk to me unless it’s about chapter five.” An ode to introverts, intellect, and couches that understand you.
✷ HANDCRAFTED DETAILS
This isn’t something that rolled off a production line or got dropped into a generic frame as an afterthought. Each piece is made by hand using archival canvas, then set into a solid plaster relief frame cast from a mold created from a rare antique original. There’s a weight to it, both physically and visually, that gives it that slightly uncanny “existed long before you bought it” feeling.

• Plaster relief frame, hand-poured and finished in a vintage patina. Cast from a rare antique original and unique to this studio.
• Made with Hydrostone plaster, a mineral-based material rather than petroleum-based resin. It’s biodegradable and doesn’t stick around like plastic.
• Two finishes available:
Aged gold with a real metal finish applied in the mold for a warm, heirloom feel. Finished with hand-buffed antique wax for a museum-quality low luster.
Classic black with pigment mixed directly into the plaster for a deep, matte look that won’t chip or flake.
• At 2 lbs, it has a satisfying bit of weight to it and feels solid rather than delicate, with pre-installed hanging hardware so it’s easy to hang.
